Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m from Olympia Washington and went to Washington State University, where I graduated with a degree in Sport Management. I currently work at SHI, an IT reseller, selling computers/software and datacenter solutions to corporate businesses. I enjoy hanging with Family and friends, BBQ’n, house projects, anything active, riding my motorcycle, and hanging with my bride to be, Lindsey.
What brought you to CrossFit?
A few friends on Facebook posted about their CrossFit workouts/community. It interested me, so I googled CrossFit gyms nearby and CrossFit Hays was the closest to my house. I went to a Saturday morning community WOD and loved it. Signed up that day.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
A little over a year
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
CrossFit Hays gives me something to look forward to after work. Before, I never really looked forward to going to the gym after work – it was just something I did to stay fit. I’ve always been involved and enjoyed sports/competition and after high school/college its something that I haven’t been involved in as much lately. It feels good to have that back in my life.
Favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
It’s changed a few times but right now I enjoy anything on the bar… T2B, butterfly style pull-ups (I feel like I’m flying). I also enjoy clean and jerk.
Least favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Overhead squat
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
Mobilize more to reduce injury risk
Compete in a local CrossFit competition
Place in a local CrossFit competition
Do you have any advice for someone who is just starting CrossFit?
Use light weight to learn the movements and be patient – It’s a lot of new movements to learn at first – stick to a couple to work on and perfect, then move to the next.
