Congratulations to our June 2016 Athlete of the Month!
Robert Crandall
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am 38 years old, I am originally from Utah. I came to Texas in 1997 in the Army. I met my wife in 1998 and was married in 2002. I am currently an electrician and my five year old daughter keeps me busy.
What brought you to CrossFit?
Me and a friend decided to be cool and try CrossFit. He had heard from a friend how awesome it was. The friend was right, even though I couldn’t move for a week, I knew that it was for me.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I started for a couple of months but was in a wreck that took me out for about 7 months. I started back up at CrossFit Hays and have been going for 1 year and 5 months.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
I had quit smoking after 20 years just before I started CrossFit. I thought I was going to die when I first started. Since then my level of fitness increased dramatically. My life and lifestyle has changed for the better. Everything from working out and eating better. It has also turned me into a better role model for my daughter.
Favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Toss up between Wall Balls and Thrusters.
Least favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Overhead Squat/Snatch
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
Honestly, to take my shirt off in public. I will settle for growing old and not bring broke down when I get there.
