Congratulations to our January 2016 Athlete of the Month!
Tara Ramsey
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am currently a senior at Hays High School. I plan on attending Texas State in the fall and hope to pursue nursing. I have always been involved in sports, but I have to say CrossFit is by far my favorite.
What brought you to CrossFit?
A close friend of mine had started going to CrossFit for volleyball, and had told me about all the progress and results she had seen from going, so I figured why not check it out. I have been hooked ever since that first WOD.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
A little over a year and a half
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
It has made me want to work out every day and look forward to it; it makes me push myself harder. I feel like I can’t live without CrossFit now. The community and atmosphere of the box is unbelievable; I love the encouragement from the coaches and fellow athletes, I also love the competitive drive between everyone. I’m now a more well-rounded athlete. I have also been focusing more on my nutrition and making sure I fuel my body.
Favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Deadlifts and I love body weight movements.
Least favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Snatches.
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
I would love to eventually get both my ring and bar muscle ups, and to put on more muscle in general.
Do you have any advice for someone who is just starting CrossFit?
My advice would be to not be intimidated by it, stay consistent with coming and working hard. You will be sore, but that’s the beauty of it, that means you are working hard and bettering yourself. The soreness will go away and it will all be worth it.
