Congratulations to our August 2015 Athlete of the Month!
Brenda Rosas
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in San Marcos TX, then attended the University of Texas in Austin. I then transferred to Texas -A&M, Kingsville where I graduated with a BBA in International Business and minor in Spanish. I am currently working for Target, and have been there for the past three years as ETL-HR and ETL-Logistics. I am married to LG Canales and we have a wonderful 2 year old little girl, whom we love!!! We love working out, spending time together and hanging out with friends!!
What brought you to CrossFit?
What brought me to CrossFit was a change in the gym environment. When you go to the gym, you normally work out alone. But working out with a group, drives friendly competition, thus driving you to work even harder.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I have been doing CrossFit for 7 months.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
CrossFit has definitely changed my level of fitness. Before, when I would just do weights, I never really saw the results I wanted. Since I’ve started CrossFit, I’ve been able to see results.
Favorite movement?
Deadlift and my favorite moment has definitely been able to achieve a PR for deadlift.
Least favorite movement?
Least favorite moment has been when I busted my lip with the bar and almost knocked my teeth out. Ouch!!
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
A personal goal of mine is being able to do a snatch lift correctly. I’ve always struggled with getting the form correctly.
Do you have any advice for someone who is just starting CrossFit?
My advice for someone just starting out would be to go at your own level and never stop because you can only get better.
