So today I started a juice cleanse. Yep, I’ve never done it and I just decided to go for it after talking about it with my family the last couple of weeks and then talking about it again with a friend last night. It was enough talking for me to think the universe was trying to tell me to “Just Do It!” (cue Nike ad…) So this morning, I just typed the address to Juiceland and purchased my juices for the day. I work and this was easy enough with no prep time, just 5 minutes to run in and get. Side note – I have horrible digestion and won’t go into detail about my many digestive issues here, but that was a big push for me to do the cleanse. I’ll try to not infuse these blogs with too many details of how my tummy feels, but I’ll add when they make sense.
Why a Juiceland cleanse?
We love this place and frequent it often for the convenience of healthy and delicious drinks, the atmosphere and great service. My son mentioned that there is a juice cleanse there and after a quick search of the internet, it looked easy enough. Six (6) bottles a day at roughly $7 a bottle. Juiceland gives you the six juices and and the order in which to drink them. When you go to the store, the box to carry 6 bottles along with the bottles to buy are all in plain sight. You can swap out different juices if you want. It was so easy to get started. It says you can do this for 3 days, which seemed like a small enough amount of time to commit to. They had some helpful information on their website that really helped set my nerves at ease. Just for clarification, I did not get paid anything nor do I get anything for doing the Juiceland cleanse. This was truly all self-imposed.
Day 1 of the juice cleanse.
I started at 7:30am with the Gingerade, which is the first bottle they recommend. It was spicy and actually quite tasty. Nothing to note, but I did use the bathroom as normal.
I started the next one, Beverly Cleary, at 10:30am and this one went down really fast and smooth. I’m starting the third, Tiger Lilly at 12:45pm. This juice blend is very green and seems to be filling. At 1:30pm, I am not hungry at all and don’t feel like I am lacking any food. I have a mild headache. This certainly can’t be attributed to the juicing, but mentioning just the same. At 2:30pm, I am starting to crave something hearty to eat. I think I’ll try another juice to see if that helps. This one is the Watermelon Chia Pep and it is refreshing and delicious! About 1/3 into the bottle, that helped my craving for whatever I seemed to be craving. At 3:30pm, I’m still drinking the Watermelon Chia. I finish at 4pm. I am getting my mild headache back as I start the drive home. And I’m craving some food. At 5:15pm, I open up Cocolily. It’s another green one and is tastier than I thought. I seem to drink the fluids when I start to get hungry or my headache starts. With that, this means at 6pm I have one juice bottle left to drink. I am heading to a friends house tonight at 8:30 where wine and snacks will be. I hope I can make it to tomorrow morning!
