Zach King
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m originally from Tacoma, WA, just south of Seattle. I moved to the Austin area six years ago to join the Austin Fire Department and currently work on Engine 17 in South Austin. I am married to Sarah King and we have two dogs, Brooklyn and Bronx at home.
What brought you to CrossFit?
I had played soccer in college and when it was time to hang up the cleats I needed something that would continue to push me, not just physically but mentally with the like-minded, family oriented folks that have found CrossFit.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Off and on for the past 10 years and often inconsistent.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
It has provided an environment where everyone wants you to be your best. The workouts themselves have provided the strength and anaerobic exercises that have helped me deal with the everyday stresses of life and my job.
Favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Corpse Pose (that feeling when it’s all over…for today anyway)
Least favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Overhead Squat
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
I would just like to be more consistent. Life throws many curveballs, but with a little planning, I would like to maintain a higher level of discipline when it comes to my health/fitness.
