Congratulations to our November 2017 Athlete of the Month!
Havilah Crider
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Small town girl born and raised in the BBQ capital of Texas, Lockhart on 14 acres out in the boonies! Love spending time with family and friends and taking our dog, Bocephus, with my Husband to the dog park. Was never really into sports growing up aside from tennis and running, but absolutely love snowboarding and look forward to our yearly trip to the mountains! My parents started taking us skiing when I was 5, and we have gone every year since then except for maybe 2 years. It’s my absolute favorite place in the world!
My husband and I started dating jr. year in high school and have known each other since kindergarten. He proposed to me on our 9 year anniversary and this year in March we finally tied the knot J and celebrated 10 years together in May. I went to culinary school prior to getting into real estate, so I absolutely love to cook and entertain, but by day, I am a full time realtor and owner of Crider Residential Group at Keller Williams and truly love getting to help people with such a big part of their lives. I like to think of myself as pretty easy going/down to earth and am a very go-with-the-flow kinda gal. I love adventure, traveling, and a good glass of wine! That’s me in a nutshell.
So glad I joined CrossFit and have really enjoyed getting to know everyone!
What brought you to CrossFit?
I have always been a pretty active person, but after the wedding this year I really let myself get to an unhealthy and low place in my life. I was the heaviest I’ve ever been and knew I needed to snap out of it before I let it go too far. Early this year my sister signed her, my brother, brother-in-law, and myself up for the Houston Tough Mudder in 2 weeks, and after a few months of not working out and eating like crap I knew I needed to get in shape and quick. I have had a few friends that did CrossFit and saw crazy results, so I figured this was the solution. My husband and I are also soon going to start trying to have kids, and my goal is to be the most fit I’ve ever been before that happens so I can maintain a good workout routine during my pregnancy and not blow up.
CrossFit is hands down the best way to work out (for me) and I don’t see myself ever leaving! It’s the only time I’ve ever actually looked forward to working out!
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Beginning of August, so 3 months.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
I feel confident again and have seen the most definition in my body than I have in years. I am substantially more productive during the day since I work out in the AM, and no doubt am the strongest I have ever been.
My sister is obsessed with lifting and has been for years, but usually when I work out with her she kills me. I recently worked out with her and was able to keep up and lift the same with no problem. I’m not one to really track my results, but that was pretty cool to see those changes.
Favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Deadlifts or back squats… I love increasing my weight and seeing more definition in my legs/booty.
Least favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Blah – overhead squats. My mobility is TERRIBLE and I’m lucky if I can keep an empty barbell over my head without it coming forward :/
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
My mobility! I would love to get that down so I can actually enjoy doing an overhead squat and lift more weight. And without a doubt, my number one goal is to be able to do a strict pull up with no bands! Long way to go for that one, but it WILL happen!
Anything else you want to add.
Total CrossFit lover/ believer. I love hearing people talk smack about CrossFit now and enlightening them on how it really works. Quincy and Victor are awesome and I love starting my day with our little CrossFit family and positive energy! Mostly, I love seeing people better than me because it pushes me to go hard and do my best every day! Super glad I joined and I look forward to seeing where I am in a year from now! Thank you everyone for your support and for pushing me to surpass my limits! Havilah out J
