Congratulations to our January 2017 Athlete of the Month!
Tori Nelson
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Born and raised Texas girl! Throughout high school I competed on our Basketball and Powerlifting teams and also participated in our EMS program. I then graduated from Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) with a degree in Psychology, and soon after that, I moved to Austin to start my career in Healthcare Administration. Living in Kyle with Tomm and our fur babies has been amazing, where we get to enjoy hiking, paddle boarding, and making friends!
What brought you to CrossFit?
A really good friend of mine and my boyfriend started crossfitting and told me how much they liked it and thought I would like it since I was looking for an alternative to the Rec. Turns out they were right!
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
S/O to CrossFit Aggieland – I started going to their box back in 2013 and have kept CrossFit in my life ever since.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
I love the way CF has brought people into my life that make it so much happier and brighter, it’s been great making new friends who constantly motivate and push me to be better. But most importantly it’s changed the way I treat my body. I fuel myself with healthier foods and make sure I’m keeping my body active.
Favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Thrusters, snatches, and recently butterfly pull-ups (b/c I finally got them! Woo hoo!)
Least favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Wall balls, rowing, and running.
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
I have a couple that I’m working towards, 200# Clean & Jerk, and the ever challenging ring muscle up.
