Congratulations to our March 2016 Athlete of the Month!
Audrey Dow
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Born in Albuquerque, NM but grew up in South Austin so I consider Austin home. I moved to Kyle a year ago and I’m so glad I did because I don’t think I would’ve ever given CrossFit a try! When I’m not at the gym I love doing anything outdoors or just being at home with my fur babies (2 dogs and 3 cats!) 🙂
What brought you to CrossFit?
Honestly…Liz pressuring me! Haha. I had been in a routine where I would go to the gym and just run and I had hit a plateau. She encouraged me to give crossfit a try so I went to a community workout with her and I loved it so I signed up that next week and have been doing it ever since!
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I signed up at the end of June last year, so about 9 months now.
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
I can honestly say that this has been the best shape I’ve been in since high school 12 years ago! I feel more confident with myself and I actually look forward to going every day. I love the constant push that I get from not only the coaches but everyone else at the gym. It’s an amazing feeling!
Favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
I like back squats, front squats and really anything with squats.
Least favorite CrossFit lift/movement?
Besides the obvious burpees, I would probably have to go with snatches. I haven’t really gotten down the movement so it’s still kind of awkward for me
Name one goal and/or personal record you would like to accomplish through CrossFit.
I really want to lean out more and get more toned. While I’m feeling more confident with myself I know that I can be a lot better.
Do you have any advice for someone who is just starting CrossFit?
Don’t get discouraged! Sometimes I wonder why it never feels like it’s getting easier and I realized it’s because you’re constantly improving and pushing yourself more. When I think about where I was when I started and where I am now, I’m so much stronger and faster than I was 9 months ago! And we have AMAZING coaches that are so encouraging and supportive, so that is definitely something that has helped me along the way. Thanks!!!
